5 Years
I celebrated my 5th wedding anniversary on September 24th. The traditional 5 year gift is wood so I wanted to think of something creative to make. I saw this memory box and knew instantly what I was going to do. I stained the wood with a few different colors of ink and used my scrapbook supplies to decorate the top. As far as everything inside, I included little trickets, all with meaning
Inside are the following:
A key to my heart
A clock for our time together
A four leaf clover because I"m lucky to have my husband
A picture of two little kids to represent our kids
A initial for each of us
A penny from the year we were married.

Pillowcase Dress
My niece's Birthday is coming up and I've been itching to make her some things. With two little boys I don't get to make dresses, bows and things with ruffles. I didn't have a pillowcase to use but bought some adorable fabric and used the same concept of the pillowcase to make this little dress complete with satin ribbon ties.

Making A Paper Flower
Supplies:
2 sided paper
tape runner
button with thread
First you will need to cut out 8-9 circles (depending on the size of your flower) to make the petals. I cut eight 1" circles.
Roll in or bend the sides of the circles to form the petals.
I then cut a 1 1/2" circle and ran my tape runner around the edge to adhere my petals.
Thread on a button in the center for your finishing touch.

1st Birthday Invitations
Owen's Birthday is fast approaching, actually his party is next weekend. I've been fractically trying to finish the invites for his party. If it wasn't for Mother's guilt I think I would have just e-mailed everyone, but Aiden had handmade invites for his first birthday and now that I think about it a homemade cake. I guess I better get thinking about Owen's cake. I printed a picture of him that slips into a pocket along with the party details. I used Cosmo Cricket's new Lil' Man collection. I loved the mix of vibrant colors along with some muted colors also.
Buttons
One of my favorite embellishments are buttons. A while ago my Grandma gave me a tin full of buttons that she has saved through the years. I'm always finding a new button I've never seen before while digging through the tin. I love using them on layouts and cards because they are a little something extra special than just a store bought button. What are some of your favorite embellishments?

Pansy Pots
The snow has all melted, the sun is shining and we hit 70 degrees today! I've been itching to get outside and get some yard work done. The boys and I took a trip to and picked up some pansies and a few pots. We made a little pot sculpture for our pansies using a piece of pipe and large pot I already had. I can't wait to see how it looks when the pansies fill out!

Featured Scrapper
I was honored to be asked to be the featured Scrapper over at Feeling Scrappy. I've taken three classes so far and I'm excited to be the guest designer for May and June's classes. I have loved discovering my own scrapping style through the classes I have taken. If you get a chance please check Feeling Scrappy.

Small Steps....
Life seems to always be crazy! Working three days a week and then trying to keep my head afloat at home the other days I'm home is sometimes hard. A while back I made this dry erase meal planner. I "try" to plan our meals a week in advance so there isn't any last minute digging, trying to throw something together. Another advantage is that my husband works with in walking distance from our house and comes home everyday at lunch to let the dog out, so if it's a day I'm at work and forgot to pull something out he can just check the board and pull something out. I'm hoping these small steps will make life much easier!

This is one of my all time favorite pictures of my oldest son, I've had it in my picture stash forever. I've never found the right paper that really showcased the photo like I wanted. I found this paper and fell in love with it, it has two of my favorite colors, green and brown. I used some lyrics from Rascal Flats song My Wish for journaling. The page is clean and simple with just enough embellishments to let the picture shine!

Making Papa Proud
Having boys sometimes makes scrapbooking a challenge, I don't want the pages to seem too girlie but sometimes I want to use that flower-y paper and some flowers on a page. I found some paper recently that lets me do just that without being too girlie. This is the latest layout I finished for Feeling Scrappy's Sketchapalooza 3.
